A contribution to the digital representation of ocean real-world entities and processes for the Mediterranean Sea.
The European Digital Twin of the Ocean (DTO) and EDITO-Infra initiatives will foster knowledge-based decision making, providing the ability to explore the impacts of management decisions to achieve the EU Green Deal objectives such as reducing CO2 emissions or establishing marine protected areas would have on marine ecosystems, resources, the climate, and ocean economy sectors.
4DMED will develop science solutions for specific topics of interest for the Green Deal like Marine Spatial Planning amd Fisheries management. 4DMED will assess the possible integration of these 4DMED solutions into the DTO to support the monitoring, preservation and possible restoration action of the Mediterranean Sea Health.
The Science Cases newly gained scientific outcome will serve as the basis for the demonstration of the relevance of 4DMED products and analysis tools for Impact Assessment purposes, indicating how they will contribute to the development of a Digital Twin of the Ocean aiming at monitoring, restoring and preserving the Mediterranean Sea Health, and specifically targeting marine spatial planning/MPAs and fisheries management.
