MULTISENSOR CORE LOGGER

The Geotech Model 36 multisensor core logger (MSCL) of OGS (Fig. 29), is an automated, non-destructive system for acquisition of physical and acoustical properties on full and split sediment cores. The MSCL can log bulk density, magnetic susceptibility, P-wave velocity. Furthermore from the combination of these different parameters it is possible to obtain the fractional porosity, mass susceptibility, and the acoustic impedence, therefore constructing synthetic seismograms. The data acquisition is software controlled, and the data are automatically correlated.
