OBJECTIVES AND BRIEF NARRATIVE OF CRUISE
This is the second leg of the third seasonal monitoring cruise of ADRICOSM-STAR Project. This leg was dedicated to the sediment sampling activity. During the first leg there was ocenographic and mesoscale activity. The ship started on Thursday 15 may. from the port of Bar.
The technical crew was composed by:
F. Chiarini, P. Focaccia, F. Giglio, and R. Lipparini from ISMAR Bologna;
Rosa Maria Cavalli, and Cristiana Bassani from IIA Lara-Roma;
Giuseppe Cacciamo from ISMAR Ancona.
Montenegrin staff: Zoran Kljajic and Aleksandar Jovicic.
Albanian staff. Ervin Moçka.

The ship sailed southward to reach the Albanian Territorial Sea to collect 2 samples south to the Bojana river Mouth, than 2 more samples were collected close to the river delta in front of the river mouth; after that the ship sail along a south east/North west transect in order to collect 7 samples. At the end of the open marine transect the ship sailed into the Bokokotorska bay and start the sampling of the bay and more precisely has been sampled one station just outside the mouth of the bay, 5 stations in the bay of Herceg Novi, 5 stations in the bay of Zaliv and 11 stations in the bay of Kotor. In about all the sites of Bokakotorska bay and the open marine sector a box core and a gravity core samples were collected. The gravity cores were cut in two peaces in order to obtain pieces not longer than 1 m. The core length span from ca. 40 cm to 190 cm The box cores was sub sampled with a short cores (ca.20 cm) in order to preserve the surficial sediment, moreover water/sediment interfaces were sub sampled from the remaining sediment. The sediment was preliminary described for the visual characteristics. The first 1,5 day the ship activity has been focused in Herceg Novi bay, the two days after was spend in order to sample the other two bay. During the cruise a total of about 100 samples were collected: 11 Box corers, 11 Cores and 11 surface sediment samples in Open marine sector and 21 Box corer, 20 cores and 25 surface sediment samples in Bokakotroska bay.

The ship remain in the Tivat Harbour on 18 of may due to bad meteo condition, and leave from Tivat on the morning of 20 to arrive in Ancona on 21 of May in the morning, were the cruise ended. One more short stop has been made in Zelenica in order to disembark the Montenegrin and Albanian personnel and to make the check out procedure.
The techincal crew was organised as follow in order to perform all the activity:
F. Giglio end E. Lipparini: coring operation.
P. Focaccia and F. Chiarini: Box core sub sampling operations and sediment descriction.
Caccamo performed the navigation, CTD and rosette operations.
Cavalli and Bassani perfomed radiometric measurements and colored DOM analysis at some stations.

(IF APPLICABLE) if the cruise is designated as part of a larger scale cooperative projct (or expedition), then enter the name of the project and of organisation responsible for co-ordinanting the project.

This section should be used for reporting mooring, bottom mounted gear and drifting systems (both surface and deep) deployed and/or recovered during the cruise.
Separate entries should be made for each location (only deployement positions need be given for drifting systems). This section may also be used to report data collected at fixed locations which are returned to routinely in order to construct 'long time series'.

Separate entries should be made for each distinct amd coherent set of measurements of samples. Different modes of data collection (e.g. vertical profiles as opposed to underway measurement) should be clearly distinguished,as shouldmeasurements/sampling techniques that imply distinctly different accuracy's or spatial/temporalresolution. Thus, for example, separate entries would be created for i) XBT drops, ii) water bottle stations, iii) CTD casts, iv) towed CTD, v) towed undulating CTD profiler, vi) surface water intake measurements, etc.
Each data set entry should start on a new line - it's description may extend over several lines if necessary.
